A working demo. The business and every figure are invented.

Client Analytics

Two small businesses had new websites and no way of knowing whether they were working. Google Analytics answers that question in a language their owners do not speak. Client Analytics is a private page built for each site that turns visitor and search data into plain English: who came, how they found the business, and how many got in touch. Client names are withheld. Everything on this page is a working demo running on invented figures.

THE PRODUCT

A dashboard an owner will open

Every label is a sentence the owner would say. "People who got in touch" in place of conversions. "Already looking for you" in place of branded queries. "Which prices book" in place of funnel analysis by price band. Where a number needs explaining, the explanation sits under the heading.

The page answers three questions in order: is anyone visiting, are they getting in touch, and which searches bring in new work. Search results are split between people who typed the business name and people who had never heard of it, because only the second group shows whether the website is earning its keep.

Same numbers, two languages

  • The dashboard says

    People who got in touch

Bookings, forms, calls, WhatsApp and emails.

  • The dashboard says

    Already looking for you

Searches for your business by name.

  • The dashboard says

    New customers

People who had not heard of you yet.

  • The dashboard says

    Times shown in Google

How often your site appeared in results.

  • The dashboard says

    Typed the address

They already knew where to find you.

  • The dashboard says

    Which prices book

    Where people stop booking.

THE BUILD

Small enough to leave alone

The first dashboard lives inside a site's own content studio. The second reused the same reporting code as a standalone page with its own sign-in: a link sent by email, no passwords, and only named addresses can request one.

Both read Google Analytics and Search Console directly each time they load, so there is no database to host, secure or back up. One also sends a summary by email every Monday morning, so the owner sees the week without opening anything.

Your website dashboard

Enter your email and a sign-in link is sent to it. There is no password.

Only addresses the owner has listed are sent a link. Anyone else sees the same message and receives nothing.

THE DESIGN

Frosted paper, dark type, raised controls

The demo is drawn in Vellum Effect, a studio design theme: layered sheets of frosted paper over light and shadow, charcoal text, and controls that lift on hover and press in when chosen. One colour carries meaning, a mint green for growth.

Everything here is a rebuilt demonstration and not a copy of either client's dashboard. Their versions follow their own sites' styling and show their own data.

What the paper is doing

The sheet

Switch the frost off and the shapes behind the window come through sharp. With it on, only their light and shadow reach the surface.

Raised

Controls sit above the sheet. They lift under the pointer and stay pressed once chosen.

Recessed

Fields and tracks are cut into the sheet. Mint green is the only colour, kept for growth.
